YG, for many reasons hated by his own fans for making his artists
worked so long in every single. Fans can't wait forever, right? But that “hate”
feeling healed just after the album released. Haha, YG always being that
perfectionist and that’s why we’re in love with music of YG artists. CL said that
2NE1 put a lot of thought on every song of the album. I think it's so true.
Personally I can't choose one song I love more than the other. I agree that every song on Crush album is special, left nothing behind. The quality of
it is enough to say 2NE1’s class is truly on a different level. Crush reaffirm
my reasons for stanning YG artists. Day by day, YG definitely upgraded the
state of the music industry.
I always adore YG’s spirit to create an excellent music (no matter how long it takes) than a
chart killer or album sales topper. Good music talks its proper place though.
His artists always kill the chart *--* . Here’s my review of 2NE1’s newest
album, CRUSH.
1.CRUSH
“I'm the hot crush of all girls. Pretty Unnies like me because they get prettier if they like me. I have nothing to be afraid of, even I'm scared of myself. I'm
busy, dont you even watch TV? If you think you can dance like me, come out.
They love me cuz I’m hot. They love me cuz I'm cold. They love me cuz
I'm real. They love me cuz I kill”
The middle east influenced melody kills me. Its typical music I usually listen through dancing divas such as Beyonce. The beat is sick. The
lyrics is intimidating! The dancing machine, Minzy, even asks you dance
battling with her. The beautiful face, Sandara, tells you that even cupid in
love with her. Choice37 (this song's composer) must be my #1 favourite YG producer if Teddy’s
productivity is not that high. Choice37, you still my number one in term of creativity.
The beat gives a powerful vibe. And CL, you wrote this kind of lyrics cuz you knew you're the crush of all girls right? This song reminds me why I have a crush on
2NE1. Yes, I had a crush to the "crush" singers. Hahaha.
2.COME BACK HOME
" One two three you left me but I hear your breath from
somewhere. Once again, four five six red tears fall down. I miss your scent
that embraced me. I hate you for not answering, I wonder if you'll miss me
sometimes too yeah. I'm trapped in a time without you. The many days that are
unfinished its seems like they'll be waiting for us"
A blend of reggae, R&B, dubstep, and hip hop song. The beat is
enjoyable, the dubstep part is dope. That music video is sooooo awesome (That's why YG artists always win music video of the year award). It gives strong message: happiness in real life is the most important thing. We life in modern era and virtual world seems like paradise but we have to come back home (real life). Anyway, beside the original version with addictive beat, there's unplugged
ver which is give a different vibe.
3. COME BACK HOME (Unplugged Ver)
Come back home (unplugged ver) suddenly makes me feel like crying. I don’t know why. Just like their latest single, “Missing You”, its not even my own story but I’m dragged into it. I "hate" YG artists for making a heart-wrenching song in a non-ballad melody--its so genius. Soon after played it, the chorus running back and forth in my mind. The vocals stand out and the guitar flows along smoothly. Minzy, as always in every accoustic, I forget that she’s not the lead vocalist. CL's rapping fit the song perfectly. I bet this song gonna be one of 2NE1's legendary songs.

4.BABY I MISS YOU
"Baby I miss you. I miss you I still cant express it
but.."
As one of the composers, CL succeed to exhibit the members unique
vocals through this mysterious toned song. This R&B track surprising
me with the english slow rap from the leader. "When I look into your eyes,
you set me free. Just look into my eyes, I'll let you see everything. We dont
need anything in our secret world."
5. GOTTA BE YOU
" I hate seeing myself still not over you. I try to forget
but I can't, everyday. Its gotta be you, I cant be over. Even if your love ruins
me and hurts me. To me, its only you. My love starts with you and ends with
you. Its gotta be you, my one and only oh oh oh"
Another medium tempo song, but I love it like crazy. The bridge and chorus are priceless. Minzy at the bridge part, Park Bom’s
beautiful voice at the chorus drove me crazy. Their vocals shown off marveleously :)
6. IF I WERE YOU
"I wish you could be me. I wish I could be you. I wish you
could feel it for just a day. I wish I could love you. I wish you would love
me. I wish we could be together just for a day"
An R&B ballad song. If only
we knew that CL can compose this kind of beautiful song, she should be 2NE1's producer just like GD does to Big Bang. Dara’s
sweet vocal, CL's slow closing aaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrghh. This song sounds plain at first but really strong at the stage. The sorrowful emotion is just captured perfectly.
7. MENTAL BREAKDOWN (CL Solo song)
"Abracadabra, this is a lullaby that wakes up your soul. Go
up high and look down on yourself Mon Tues Wed Thurs Fri Sat Sun"
Shout out to the drum beat, it's so cool. Somehow, this song
reminds me of TOP's Doom Dada (middle east melody effect?). Ah, the beat is really really sick. This track full of
CL’s fierce rap. The queen turns into a hip hop warrior. She becomes unstoppable intimidating now. Her rapping is nowhere but at the
highest class seat. You have me a mental breakdown, CL.
8.HAPPY
"If I was a burden to you, If I was a baggage, I should've
left you earlier I'm sorry. Oh no, I didnt cry cry cry. Without you, I'm not
happy but I hope you're happy. I'll watch over you from far away. If at least
you're happy, its a happy ending. I'm not being sarcastic, I hope you know I
mean it"
The music video is sooo colourful and cute. I'm very happy to find this catchy song on their album. If they
aim making their listeners feel happy, yes they’re succeed. A pop dance song
which makes me smile and wanna do a little dance moves. But hey, this
bittersweet lyrics make you dancing? Yes, its totally YG style. That "I Hope you're H-A-P-P-Y" dance is really cute :)
9. GOOD TO YOU
“Why do good girls love bad boys? Why do bad boys love bad girls?
That's why I love you. But why dont you know my heart? Cuz I’m so good to you”
A kind of medium tempo
song with a mellow piano rolling. Just when I heard that G-Dragon listed as one of the composers, I believe that its gonna be
epic. Since I can hear their vocals clearly in an R&B song, its so
enjoyable.
10. SCREAM
"You wanted to leave me before and you're coming back to me?
What do you want from me, why you keep callin' me honey"
Korean version of 2NE1’s Japanese single, Scream. I love CL's rapping here.
Exactly like every YG artists album: there’s no
second class song. My only problem then I can't choose. I’m satisfied with this album. The lyrics are so heavenly good. I
clearly see their vocal colours--the album highlight, beside the songs
material themselves. Minzy for sure, owned beautiful vocal beside the excellent dancing
skill. Park Bom, we have no question but she filled every reff for a reason
right? Dara’s sweet vocal is so refreshing. Oh Sandara! CL, I adore you for
every lil thing of you. Your rapping in this album brings the songs to another
level. Its undoubtable that 2NE1 sets a very high standard for an album.

(Wow, I just got a good news: Crush sets a new U.S. record for highest charting and best selling K-pop album and it just 4 days. In K-pop best selling album, they beats the previous record by their labelmate, Big Bang's Alive album. Congrats girls *-*)
