My first words while listen to it: what a masterpiece! The leader of Big Bang is simply wonderful :)

People raise their so-very-high expectation to him but he never failed to jump off the bar. G-Dragon’s new album is just tooooo right! Nuanda dark terasa betul di album ini, sesuatu yang berbeda dari musik GD di album sebelumnya yang cenderung riang. Bagaimana menebak arah musik GD? Dia selalu membawa warna musik yang baru di setiap lagunya. Here we go, Coup D'Etat Album, album with many international artists collaborating. Muncul dengan teaser yang membocorkan sedikit cuplikan lagunya berjudul Shake The World, GD memulai "pemberontakan"-nya.

Bernuansa pemberontakan, GD berfilosofi  melalui melodi slow hiphop. Tak lupa GD menyisipkan pesan intimidatif “If time is money, I’m so poor. I’m the best at self-admiration and being cocky”. Kegeniusan telah membuatnya sulit ditebak, termasuk bagaimana musik yang akan dia ciptakan selanjutnya. Single yang juga digarap Diplo dan Baauer ini sedikit melenceng dari musik yang biasa GD ciptakan. Video klip yang misterius ternyata bercerita tentang 5 kematian bagi GD sebagai seorang musisi, salah satunya pressure of the glamour of fame dan tekanan media. Well, this honest side of GD is simply adorable. 

Single kedua yang langsung mencuri perhatian saya adalah R.O.D (Ride Or Die). Berduet dengan Lydia Paek--si multitalented jewel, GD menyuguhkan irama electro-reggae-dubstep yang adiktif. Oh my, Lydia Paek's voice on the loop is so addictive. Lydia simply brings this song into another level.

Nomor duet dengan Missy Elliot tak kalah mencuri perhatian. Korean most popular rapper meet hiphop legend, Just like Hip meet Hop! Diperdengarkan pertama kali Di LA, rap GD-Missy blended very well. Melodi lagu tradisional Korea menyusup dalam lagu membuat kesan modern-tradisional berdampingan dengan manis.

Girls are all freaky freaky, why? Because of this Missy Missy here yeah.
Boys are all jiggy jiggy, why? Because of this GD GD here yeah (Niliria-GD ft Missy Elliot)

Melodi  “Dududududududududu, dudududu ohohohohoh” tiba-tiba terngiang-ngiang di telinga saya. This song to be blamed! Hahaha, Who You adalah keresahan ketika seseorang yang kita cintai mencintai orang lain. Lagu ini kembali membuktikan olah vokal GD. Tak hanya fasih rapping, GD bisa bernyanyi dalam tempo non-rap.

Nuansa dark terasa benar di lagu Black. Just another medium tempo RnB song of GD but this time sounds deeper. Meskipun beratmosfer perih, lagu ini dibungkus dalam melodi yang renyah. Jennie Kim, artis yang tak kunjung debut tetapi wira-wiri di lagu artis-artis YG, ikut "memperkeruh" suasana lagu ini. Untuk versi reff dengan bahasa Inggris, GD berduet dengan Sky Ferreira. This song totally blackened my heart. hihihi

Irama kemarahan karena patah hati? Crooked membuat siapa pun teringat bagaimana memori tentang patah hati. Just a brilliant-upbeat-sentimental-song of GD.

Kolaborasi lain yang mencuri perhatian saya adalah I Love It (feat Zion. T, Boyz Noize) Bergenre dubstep, for some reasons lagu ini mengingatkan saya pada lagu-lagu milik Michael Jackson. Dan Zion.T please his soulful vocal T.T

G-Dragon is the name of my favourite songwriter and rapper. Can't stop fallen for your musicality, Mr. Genius :)
