"They say that time flies
But you keep breakin' its wings"

Taeyang has released his third solo album with the title song "Eyes, Nose, Lips". The ballad R&B song slayed the charts, received the certified all-kill achievement. After winning local's hearts (by won 6 trophies on music shows so far) and of course international recognition (by topped many iTunes charts and joined Billboard 200 chart), YG prepares another surprise: the YG family cover project. Its very first project was Akdong Musician's cover of Eyes, Nose, Lips. A cute interpretation of the heart-wrenching original version. If in the original version, Taeyang showed us a vibe of how painful and empty he is because of the one he loves, Akdong gave us a feeling of first love disaster. The arrangement sticks with Taeyang's but this one is acoustic. Even though it lacks the sorrowful emotion--puts broken pure love feeling instead, Akdong provided us a fresh cover. Soohyun's high pitches are refreshing and Chanhyuk's rap is cool. Simply, the siblings' cover is beautiful.
Akdong delivered the baton to the second singer, Tablo. In his rendition of ENL (Eyes, Nose, Lips), he made the lyrics completely in English. He studied English literature and creative writing at Stanford university so yeah I don't need to ask why he made such stunning English lyrics. Thank to his skillful songwriting ability, Tablo wrote the new one in poem-like lyrics. In YG Family where almost everyone is a composer and lyricist, they keep calling Tablo a poet--yes it's true.  He dragged his bandmate, DJ Tukutz, to rearrange the song into a rap song. This version featured the original singer, Taeyang. With a new interpretation, Tablo owned the song without overshadowing the original version. His anger is clearly drawn yes he delivered the song's message precisely. Tablo's slow melodic rapping and Taeyang's soulful vocal blended so well. The part when Tablo and Taeyang sing together is gold--the harmony impressed me. Both cover songs got me goosebumped especially Tablo's version. His lyrics hit me as always.

"You wish me well. You wish me well. I wish you hell"
"You left me paralyzed. No cure, no rehab for me. Funny that you got the nerve to keep askin' me how I've been. You're the victor in this pageantry but the only trophy you deserve: catastrophe."

So, who will be the next hitter after 001 by Akdong Musician and 002 by Tablo?

*update: Lydia Paek, YG's very own producer, is the 003. Yeah, her soulful voice blew my mind :)
