Lately, I‘m jamming to slow songs to match the pleasant kind of rainy days' mellow mood. Unknowingly, the slow songs I’m currently listening are romantic melodies. Rain season is synonymous with romantic--kinda obviously. So here are the songs I’m enjoying the most these days (in no particular order):

1. Everything - The Black Skirts

“On rainy days, lying down, not a single word. Gazing with our eyes closed, everything becomes ours. Times when you go around looking for me pale-faced. Times when you surprise me with your cheeky stories.”

Have you ever fell in love with a song since the first notes on the first time listening? The exact situation happened to me. I couldn’t precisely mention what’s the biggest reason I fell into this K-indie band’s song. As usual, good music cannot be exactly described, you just listen (*-*). Which side of this song easily grabbed my attention? Was it the lyrics (but I didn’t even understand the lyrics except for the English ones), the melody (the nostalgia aura behind the melody, was it you my heart stealer?), the soft vocal, or the dreamy vibe (the relaxed mood whenever I hear this beautiful piece)?

And the “my everything” part on repeat is romantic :D

2. Fix You - Coldplay

“When you try your best but you don’t succeed. When you get what you want but not what you need. When you feel so tired but you can't sleep. Stuck in reverse…. Light will guide you home and ignite your bones and I will try to fix you.”

First of all, I’m a fool for Coldplay. Who wouldn’t anyway? The evident romantic lyrics alongside Chris Martin’s sensitive vocal got me stuck on this song. Everybody wants to have somebody fix the thing when it goes wrong. We need someone to console us whenever we have a hard time. And then here we go this certain person said that (s)he will try to fix us. Simple yet comforting. I guess this song is relatable to everyone—for everyone needs a “hero” in their life.

3. Maybe This Time – Sarah Geronimo

“Two old sweethearts who fell apart somewhere long ago. How are they to know someday they’d meet again and have a need for more than reminiscin’. Maybe this time it’ll be lovin’ they’ll find. Maybe now they can be more than just friends”

The storyline was about falling in love with your long-time friend then got separated for another long span and accidentally got reunited again. The Filipino diva, Sarah Geronimo, will suddenly make you imagine the same story happens to your life (while you know that kind of story is not an easy way to be with someone. You have to feel the bitterness of losing that person while haven't realized your feeling. But isn’t it sweet to see that person reappearing in your life again after you lose the hope to be together?). Moral value: love isn’t always on time (by our standard) but surely it will find us at the rightest time.

4. Tak Bisa Ke Lain Hati – Kla Project 

“Sisi ruang batinku hampa rindukan pagi. Tercipta nelangsa merenggut sukma. Terwujud keinginan yang tak pernah terwujud. Aku tak bisa pindah ke lain hati.”

The affection I have for this song is timeless. I may listen to new songs from time to time but this song always hold a special place in my heart. Hiperly sweet lyrics “I couldn’t move to another heart” is totally heartwarming. I think everyone's heart will melt when his/her special one sing this legendary song for them :)

One and Only - Adele

“I dare you to let me be your one and only. I promise I’m worthy to hold in your arms. So come on and give me the chance to prove that I’m the one who can walk that mile until the end starts.”

As long as I could remember, it was a rare occasion that this British singer-songwriter sings a romantic song. She succeeds in bringing sorrowful songs like “Someone Like You” or “Hello” and “One and Only” was a challenge for her. You just cannot dislike Adele’s songs, right? Especially when she said sweet words like “I dare you to let me be your one and only” :)

6. Beautiful in White – Shane Filan

“So as long as I live I’ll love you. Will have and hold you. You look so beautiful in white. And from now to the very last breath this day I’ll cherish. You look so beautiful in white tonight.”

The lyrics were undeniably sweet and undoubtedly romantic. The existence of this song at every wedding is required. Haha. No long explanation is needed. Just listen and got melted right away.
