TAEYANGUI HUYE

For those who
feel unfamiliar with these words, I give the translation. Taeyangui Huye
means “Descendants of The Sun”, an extremely celebrated South Korea’s TV drama. Now
it sounds familiar right? Because millions of people (maybe you're included. Hihi) enjoyed this drama. I
was into it these days, after a very long time didn’t into any dramas. (Mostly
I don’t enjoy watching drama. The dramas got my attention can be counted with
fingers).
I just finished
16 episodes of “Descendants of the Sun” and in my opinion, these things got me
able to watch it until the very end.
1. The Casts
After watched
this drama, I understood why close friends of mine fallen for a guy called Song
Joong Ki. He won public recognition for his cute baby face yet magnificent acting skill. A
flower boy acted as a humourous soldier: somehow it worked very well. For Song
Hye Kyo, she has a solid performance on acting and of course, her name itself guaranteed the quality. Even read the cast names made me wonder what kind of drama
could gathered these big names altogether. Song couple (how people
called Song Joongki and Song Hye Kyo pairing) fit their character perfectly.
Who wouldn’t captivated by their charms, moreover when they shared the same
screen? Even their visuals slayed anyone hard. They looked gorgeous and adorable side by side. Let anyone envying their sugary chemistry.
Anyway, their acting needs no explanation. Their names told us something wonderful already.
2. Bromance
Special Forces
Unit’s Captain, Yoo Si Jin (Song Joongki) and Sergeant Seo Dae Young (Jin Goo)
had an adorable bromance. They are not only brave and charismatic but also
playful and silly. They’re hand in hand for difficult missions yet fooling
around together. You could feel that they took care each other both on and off duty.
We would grin widely seeing how well they acted as best friends. And yes,
bromance is cute. I said it many times J
3. The Story Line
I’m giving a round
of applause to the scriptwriter as the storyline is completely heart-stealing: uniting doctors and soldiers--two jobs which have different ways of thinking and life.
Soldier kills to protect lives meanwhile doctor tries to save lives. That’s why
even when they were so in love, they had to say goodbye many times. They knew
their hearts wanted that relationship yet parting kept happening. Until one day,
an earthquake created a common task for them. Their respective teams worked together for mankind and humanity. Then, their relationship grew stronger as they decided to accept their
differences.
Seo Dae
Young-Yoon Myeong Ju’s love story is gonna make you emotionally sad. They represented
the pain of disapproved love. Dae Young forced himself to hide his feeling even
when he realized how weak himself without the one he loved—because he did it for sake of her happiness. He looked indifferent in front of Myeong Ju but we
can be sure that his heart called for her. I think people who hide their
feeling can relate to their story.
4. Realistic Lead
Characters
“I like Song
Joongki because of Yoo Si Jin, not the opposite way.”- Anggi
For long-time
Joongki’s fans, they like Yoo Si Jin because of Joongki and vice versa but
Anggi is different. She said she was into Yoo Si Jin first, into Joongki later (so she like the character first, the actor later).
She was the person who made me want to watch this action rom-com drama. One day
she wrote “All my criteria now become Song Joongki” so I asked her what happened
around her. She said she was absorbed into “Descendants of the Sun” where Joongki became
the main actor. I asked her about this drama and because it didn’t sound
cheesy, I decided to join her as viewers.
I always have this
principle about any films or dramas I watch: both the storyline and character
must be realistic. I prefer some imperfect characters yet still charming in
their own way. They need to win over some obstacles or lack of something so they have to struggle for it. For me, perfect character is simply boring.
And here are the
four lead characters with their own problems and weaknesses. I think people could easily sympathize with them because their realistic personalities. They are the
personalities whom we think we can find them somewhere in this world (maybe
minus their super good-looking faces. Haha.)
5. The soundtracks
"When I look at you everything stops. I don't know since when I feel like that. You came like a dream someday, trembling my heart. I feel my destiny." (Always, Yoon Mirae)
Yoon Mirae and
Gummy! In their country, these two belong to respected female singers. Yoon Mirae’s “Always”
grabbed my heart even from its first line. Of course Gummy’s “You Are My
Everything” flowed right to my soul. Those are not enough as K.Will, Davichi, Mad
Clown (I always have special affection towards rapper. Haha), Lyn, Chen, Junsu,
etc participated with their emotional songs. I love Yoon Mirae even more. She’s not
only one of the best female rappers South Korea ever had but also an amazing singer. Overall,
“Always” got the highest position since my ears enjoyed it so much.
6. Quotable
Dialogues
Here are some of
the beautiful lines spoken by the casts:
“I bet you’re
too busy to have a boyfriend since you are a doctor.”-Yoo Si Jin
“I bet you’re
too tired to have a girlfriend since you are a soldier.” -Kang Mo Yeon
“Just so I can save dying people, I spend over
12 hours a day in surgery. That’s what I do. I fight for life. But you fight to
save lives through death.”-Kang Mo Yeon
“So what should
I do? Should I apologize or should I confess my feeling?”-Yoo Si Jin
“Sergeant Seo
Dae Young, don’t get wounded. This is an order. You have to do it forever.”-Yoon
Myeong Ju.
Aaaaaaaaaaargh,
these words are so deep.
7. The Pride They Have for Their Jobs
The four lead
characters boasted the pride for their jobs. They passionately loved their jobs
and even sacrificed a lotta things for their occupations. I deeply moved
by the the soldier’s patriotism and doctor’s vow to save lives. They looked
very cool with their loyalties to their jobs. Their dedication towards their jobs
gave us bunch of moral values. So this drama doesn’t only entertained the
viewers but also threw some positive messages.
Well, I need to stop here, or else I'll write a long unnecessary essay (LoL). I can’t
write all since there are so much reasons to love this drama. You better watch
it by yourself and get ready to get some relationship goals or new spirit to be
a better person so one day you can find your own Yoo Si Jin, Kang Mo Yeon, Seo
Dae Young, or Yoon Myeong Ju. Hihi. Don't hesitate to watch it. If you need something to
be enjoyed on your spare time, it worths your time. Enjoy :)
